THREE REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD CONSIDER PROFESSIONAL BEVERAGE PHOTOGRAPHY
Today I would like to focus on creating images for packaged beverages, which can be any form of packaging, bottles, cans, or even paper cartons. Served drinks can be so attractive and I do want to talk about those, but they deserve their own post. And talking of posts, so many food and drink internet posts seem to lean towards the food side of the genre, but I guess that’s because it is so much easier to discuss. But for me, I thoroughly enjoy glass and liquid photography, and that is even though I hardly ever drink myself!
As a beverage photographer, I've witnessed many moments of fun and personal connection when people come together over a delicious meal and equally delicious drink. But while it’s easy to talk about food and the importance of restaurants promoting it, the hard fact of the industry is that the lion's share of any restaurant’s profit is found in beverages rather than the food that attracted the customer in the first place. So if drink brands expect their products to be consumed then they certainly need to promote them.
Looking at beverage marketing from another perspective, particularly alcoholic beverages, is their promotion in liquor stores. The average customer may know exactly what they are looking for before they even enter the liquor store, especially if they are planning to purchase liquor supplied by a well-known brand. But what about the small local brand that is hoping to win sales? For those brands, marketing is crucial if they are to win significant sales. Even if their product is positioned in liquor stores, they are competing against many other brands, many of which are well-established.
But just why should you market your beverage brand? Well, here are three reasons to begin with.
It helps your products stand out in a competitive market
The beverage industry is highly competitive, so distinguishing your products from those of your competitors can be very challenging. But beverage photography can help with that. Photographers who specialize in this niche understand composition, how to style scenes and drinks, and understand how to overcome all the problems that reflective surfaces present. By working closely with you, your photographer will understand your brand’s identity and your vision and will be able to translate them into creative imagery. High-quality, professional beverage photography will make your drink products stand out in the marketplace, in your social media channels, and on your website, helping you attract more customers.
It helps you increase customer engagement and sales
It’s said that we eat with our eyes first. We also drink with our eyes. Enticing drink photography is powerful, it can make customers' mouths water and generate desire. Eye-catching imagery generates significant social media engagement, leading to numerous likes, comments, and post shares. That helps put your product in people’s minds. But the most important factor is that it can entice customers to make a purchase. A simple investment in professional beverage photography can represent a significant investment in your business, as captivating images will ultimately boost your sales.
It helps you provide a consistent branding message
A good beverage photographer can help you create a cohesive and visually appealing brand identity and messaging. The photographer will work closely with you to understand what you consider to be your brand’s values, who your target audience is, as well as your aesthetic preferences; not only what you like but what you do not like as well! Accounting for all this will ensure that your messaging is correct and that your brand image remains consistent across all your marketing channels. Many things breed customer trust and loyalty, and branding is one of the most important things as customers need to identify with your brand, recognize your products immediately, and most importantly of all, remember your brand. That will help guarantee future business and recommendations.
I do hope this brief post helps demonstrate why beverage photography is equally as important as food photography. In fact, many of the benefits of professional beverage photography apply equally to food photography. At True Images Photography we provide both beverage and food photography, although if you were to ask us what our specialty and passion is, the answer would have to be anything reflective, particularly glass and liquid photography. Our clients are creative breweries, distillers, wineries, and restaurants who we help by providing clean, bold, and engaging images that help amplify their message and boost sales.
